Brief History Highlights
On November 29, 1977 Golden Key National Honor Society was officially founded at Georgia State University. Golden
Key has grown fast in the last 25 years and now includes chapters in seven countries. This growth made it appropriate for the
name to be changed to include "International Honour" to reflect the worldwide standing of the Society.
Currently Golden Key International includes chapters at over 330 colleges and universities in Australia, Canada, Great
Britain, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa and the United States.
You can find a chapter by traversing the Golden Key Chapter Directory.
An alternative is to use this site's single list of 332
chapters (as of Nov 1, 02). You can view:
1) chapters sorted by location or
2) chapters sorted by charter date.

The Golden Key crest is symbolic of the ideals upon which the Society was founded. The book represents the knowledge
we hope to attain. The scroll stands for the scholarship which knowledge brings us, and the key opens the future for applying
that knowledge. The shield denotes protection of personal ambition by using knowledge and scholarship to build potential
and make future goals reality.
